Akshya Pratishan is one of the prime institutions in New Delhi that provides inclusive education and caters to children with ability and challenges as they grow together under one roof from nursery to class VIII.

With a humble beginning in 1987 in a tent, over the last 30 years, Akshya Pratishan has been motivating children to face the difficulties of life with confidence.

The children are equipped with skills to enable them not only to sustain, but also to serve the nation with an agile mind capable of performing difficult tasks.

Having begun with 30 children with and without challenges, from the neighborhood colonies where physical and mental challenges were entwined with severe poverty, the school today boasts of about 400 such children.

A conscious effort has been made to employ teachers capable of imparting special education and adequately trained to cater to the special requirements.

The growth of the institution exceeded our expectations as there are very few schools which provide best opportunities to children with challenges like the way we do.

FOUNDER’S MESSAGE

The aim was to make a child believe in himself/herself and the potential he/she possesses and stride towards a new successful journey with confidence and pride. We are one of the premier institutions in Delhi (Recognized by Directorate of Education) who facilitate inclusive education.

EVENTS & NEWS

FOUNDER

With a passion to serve the poor and needy Mrs. Aruna Dalmia began her career in the late 1970’s by becoming part of various social institutions. She became an active member of the War Widows Association under the aegis of Dr. Mohini Giri. She also began a project named ‘SWALAMBAN’ that engaged in various activities for the upliftment of women, with the support of the Mayor of Delhi, Lala Hansraj Gupta. Soon after she found herself a member of the Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust, an institute for both regular & physically handicapped children run by Dr (Mrs) Uma Tuli.

Every individual has some vision and aim to do something for themselves or others implementing the mission and achieving the aim requires immense courage and hard work. Aruna Dalmia had found the model of her dreams with the guidance of Dr. (Mrs) Uma Tuli, she decided to set up an establishment on the similar lines of Amar Jyoti.

It all began with the first donation she received from her father-in-law Shri. Jaidayal ji Dalmia. She set up a centre in the family hometown Chirawa (which still exists and is running). Restlessness came up again & she wanted to do something in Delhi. A make shift school was created in Dakshinpuri, three tents were set up that could accommodate 40 children out of which 20 were handicapped.

Soon after, Aruna Dalmia bought an acre of land in Vasant Kunj from the DDA and the construction of the school began. It was a proud moment for her indeed. She had taken one giant leap forward.
